Where the bunny outfit began
The bunny outfit was championed by the Playboy Bunnies, not to be confused with Playmates, who were centrefolds for the Playboy magazine. Playboy Bunnies worked in the Playboy Clubs, serving drinks and acting as hostesses to guests there.
The outfit was inspired by the Playboy rabbit mascot which wore a tux. As a result the costumes were born, and included bunny ears, a bow ties, cuffs, a corset, and of course a fluffy cotton rabbit tail.The History of the Bunnies
The bunnies were waitresses at the clubs, and had various roles, including greeting guests at the door, providing cigarettes to guest and serving drinks also. To be part of the team you had to undergo a very stringent process, the girls were handpicked and trained to ensure the service was of the highest standard. Each girl not only had to identify 143 different types of spirits, they also had to know how to make 20 different types of cocktails! Though the girls were invariably attractive, mingling with guests was strictly forbidden. Their behaviour and appearance was monitored very closely.
Bunnies today
Fortunately for us girls, by wearing a bunny outfit, you don't have to keep to the strict rules that the Playboy Bunnies did! In fact, the bunny outfit is more associated with having fun and looking sexy than serving drinks and making cocktails!
The outfit
The great thing about wearing an outfit like this on your hen night is that you can dress up or down as much as you like, as the majority of the costume is in the accessories. If you're feeling brave and you and the girls are up for a laugh you could go the whole show. Corset, stockings, heels, and plus all the accessories like ears and cuffs.
